Start the stewardship journey wherever you are
The Stewardship Scan is a free, voluntary self-assessment that takes about 25 minutes: 28 questions across 10 dimensions, a 0–100 Stewardship Score, a shareable Scorecard and a personalised improvement plan. It is a first step and an on-ramp – not a certification. A listing that completes the Scan and shares the result ranks above unscanned listings in its category.
Voluntary, and worth doing
No listing has to take the Scan. A business that does, and chooses to share the result, gets its Stewardship Score on its place page and its pin, and ranks above unscanned listings in its category in the guide. Try it as a guest; save it with an account.

Twenty-five minutes, ten dimensions
Management, community, culture, nature, water, energy, waste, people and more – 28 questions aligned with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria in their design and written for a small business, not an auditor. Each answer earns points toward a 0–100 score.

A Scorecard worth sharing
The result is a Stewardship Scorecard: the score, the self-reported practices behind it by dimension, and the third-party certifications the business holds. Share it on your website and social channels, or keep it private – the business decides.

A plan, not a verdict
Every Scan produces a personalised improvement plan: the practices that would move the score most, laid out by quarter, with points attached. In Colorado the plan points businesses to the Colorado Green Business Network as the next step.

On the place page
A business that shares its Scan gets its score on its place page and its pin, with the summary of practices it reported, and its listing sorts ahead of unscanned ones in the same category. Every surface says the score is self-reported.

For destinations
Destination editors see which businesses have scanned, the pattern across dimensions, and where a workshop would help most. The Scan is a first step on a pathway toward third-party certification and improvement programmes, not a substitute for them.
- A business decides whether its score is public; unpublished results stay private
- Editors can run a Scan as an interview with a business that would rather talk than type
- Third-party certifications a business holds are shown by name, with the certifier
- Colorado businesses are referred to the Colorado Green Business Network as the next step
