Avalanche Sports has been Breckenridge's locally owned ski, snowboard and bike shop since 2001, with two Main Street locations — the South store at 540 S Main and the North store at 315 N Main. The shop describes itself plainly: locally owned, locally operated, locally supported.

Behind the counters is more than 90 years of combined ski and bike industry experience, put to work on rentals, repairs, tuning and sales. Renting here rather than from a resort-owned chain keeps your money in town and your skis in expert hands.

When the snow melts, the shop pivots to bicycles — rentals, service and sales for cruising the Blue River bike path or heading into the surrounding trail network. It's a genuinely year-round operation, which in a resort town is its own kind of local credential.
