Hayden Meadows Area Trails

A fairly flat hiking and biking trail that stretches 5 miles out and back with minimal elevation gain (128 feet, ranging from 9,184 to 9,312 feet). The trail provides multiple access points to the Gold Medal Waters of the Arkansas River and impeccable views of the Sawatch Mountain Range. Experience the history of the Ute Tribes that once called this area home.

In springtime the trail often dries out sooner than other trails in the area. The trail has minimal shade, so bring sunscreen. Visitors can connect with the High Lonesome Road at Kobe to make it a loop.

The trailhead is accessed by departing Leadville going south toward Twin Lakes on Highway 24, approximately 8 miles south of downtown Leadville where the highway crosses the Arkansas River. After the curve in the road, Hayden Meadows entrance is on the left at County Road 10, followed by a short dirt road to a larger dirt parking area near the reservoir.
