Mineral Belt Trail
The Mineral Belt Trail is an 11.6 mile all-season non-motorized ADA accessible route with numerous trailheads and access points that meanders through the historic Leadville Mining District. Weaving through the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the trail offers visitors a captivating journey that combines scenic beauty with the rich heritage of Leadville's mining history. The trail was born from a desire to preserve Leadville's mining heritage and provides a living history book experience, seamlessly combining history and practicality while connecting vital community locations.

The trail is designed for bicycles, walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, in-line skaters and long-boarders. In wintertime, enthusiasts will find a snow-groomed loop inviting freestyle and classic Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and winter biking. It showcases Leadville's historic and cultural resources, integrates segments of the three major rail lines that once served the Leadville Mining District in the early 1900s, and closely follows California Gulch, the site of Leadville's initial gold strike and earliest settlement. The trail features a 12-foot wide paved surface and offers unsurpassed views of the Sawatch and Mosquito ranges.
