Beaver Run Resort & Conference Center
Beaver Run began in 1972, when locals Bob Girvin and Jim Cavin bought the Lake Placer mining claim — named for the beavers whose dams shaped the hillside — and started building in 1978. The first condo sold in 1980; today the resort is Breckenridge's largest independent condo-hotel, with 515 individually owned slopeside accommodations ranging from hotel rooms to executive suites at the base of Peak 9.
The independence is structural, not just sentimental. Since 1984 Beaver Run has been governed by an owner-elected board rather than a chain or REIT, an unusual arrangement for a resort this size.
Ski-in/ski-out access in winter, indoor-outdoor pools, a fleet of hot tubs and the town's largest conference center keep it busy in every season — and locals took notice, voting it Best Lodging/Hotel and Best Pet-Friendly Lodging in the 2025 Best of Summit awards.
