Alpine Orchestra
The Alpine Orchestra began as an idea of allowing local musicians to play together, born on May 14, 1991 when interested people met to plan for music acquisition, rehearsal space, and scheduling. Fifteen people attended the first rehearsal in June 1991 in donated space with borrowed music and equipment, and the orchestra's first concerts followed that August. The group has been preparing and performing 2 series of 3 performances each year since, and incorporated as a non-profit organization in December 1991.

From those humble beginnings, the Orchestra has grown into a family of 40+ members, residents of Lake, Summit, Park, Freemont and Chaffee Counties, ranging in age from 14 to 85. Members include people from a variety of professions with all levels of education and musical experience. Through generous donations from audiences and members, the group now has equipment and a growing library of musical compositions.

The orchestra has been led by six different conductors, acquiring valuable knowledge and skills from each. As it enters its third decade, the Alpine Orchestra continues to strive for excellence in fulfilling its purpose of sharing the enjoyment of music with the community and expanding opportunities for talented young musicians.
