The Heritage Museum

The Heritage Museum is located in the former Carnegie Library building at the north of Leadville's main street, which opened in 1904. The museum features a scale replica of the Leadville Ice Palace, the Diorama Room, home furnishings and memorabilia from the Victorian era, an assay office, 10th Mountain Division memorabilia, and 19th-century clothing, tools, toys, law enforcement items, and theatrical cabinet cards of entertainers who performed in Leadville. The gift shop offers books, cards, and other unique items relating to Leadville and Colorado history.

The Lake County Civic Center Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1971, has been preserving Lake County history for 55 years.

The organization also owns and operates the Old Church (built in 1886 and renovated for lectures, plays, weddings, and community events), Heritage Park (displaying larger mining memorabilia and open free to the public), and the Colorado Mountain History Collection, a comprehensive research resource housed in the Lake County Public Library featuring 2,600 photo negatives, cemetery records, census data, city directories, newspapers, and extensive materials on Lake County's past.
