Through funding from the Montana Pilot Community Tourism Grant Program the First Peoples Montana project will create Indigenous Tourism Trails to connect, interpret, and market tourism assets and experiences within and across our reservations.
We invite participation from: elders & knowledge keepers; youth & young leaders; culture and language programs; economic development & business owners; artists, guides, and entrepreneurs; natural resources & wildlife programs; educators; and community organizations.
This project supports tribal sovereignty, ensures community voice, protects cultural knowledge, creates opportunities for tribal citizens, and strengthens pride, culture, and local businesses.
Who We Partner With
Indigenous Communities
We are creating steering committees and hiring ambassadors in Indigenous communities to help identify tourism assets the community wants to promote, as well as, protect.
Businesses
Indigenous owned and managed lodging, tour operators, restaurants, shops, events, and experiences committed to advancing Native communities and stewarding our natural and cultural assets.
Nonprofits
Conservation organizations, community foundations, and mission-driven groups advancing responsible tourism and economic development and environmental and cultural regeneration and stewardship.
