General

GoGood is a free, ad-free travel app that helps travelers find authentic, locally-owned experiences with a positive impact on the communities and places they're rooted in. Places are curated by professional researchers and local experts, in a simple interface designed to make the right choice the easy one.

Most travel recommendations you see are paid for. Search results, social posts, booking platforms, and travel media all run on advertising, commissions, and pay-to-play placement, so the places with the biggest marketing budgets win. GoGood has no ads and no paid placement. A place earns its spot by being locally owned, distinctive, and committed to improving its impact on the community around it. Communities help curate their own guides, because nobody knows a place like the people who love it.

Free for travelers, always. No ads, no subscription, no paywall.

For businesses, registering and completing the Stewardship Scan are free. Publishing a listing is free for your first 60 days, then [$10/month or $100/year]. See For Businesses for details.

Three ways, and we'd rather tell you than have you wonder: 1. Businesses pay a small subscription to publish a listing. 2. When you book certain experiences through GoGood, the business pays us a modest 10% referall fee. You pay the same price either way. 3. Destination organizations subsidize the guides for their region. None of these affect a place's Stewardship Score or where it appears in results.

GoGood was founded by Frank Biasi, who has spent his career working on places. At The Nature Conservancy he built the data systems behind global biodiversity mapping. Then sixteen years at National Geographic, making maps, apps, and travel guides, including leading the Geotourism program where the idea of destination stewardship started. One lesson kept surfacing: people protect what they love. He started GoGood after watching the gap play out at home. Golden, Colorado has 20,000 residents and 1.5 million visitors a year, and the family-run shops, trails, and creek that make it worth visiting carry the weight while sponsored listings point people somewhere else. The longer version is on Our Story.

GoGood is a free, ad-free responsible-travel guide app that helps thoughtful travelers discover authentic destinations and experiences curated for local impact. We feature businesses and destinations that have been assessed through the Stewardship Scan — a 0–100 evaluation of local ownership, community benefit, and environmental practice.

Unlike conventional travel platforms, every business on GoGood has been evaluated through our Stewardship Scan — a rigorous assessment based on the Green Destinations Good Travel Scan and extended with GoGood Bonus questions on ownership and certification. We prioritize quality over quantity, authenticity over advertising, and long-term community well-being over short-term volume.

Yes. GoGood is free for travelers and free for businesses to complete the Stewardship Scan. We're a program of the GoGood Community Foundation, a US-based nonprofit (pending), funded by partnerships, grants, and community support.

Every listed business is evaluated across 10 dimensions of the Stewardship Scan: Management & Information, Caring for People, Good Employment, Energy & Climate, Reducing Waste, Caring for Water, Reducing Pollution, Food & Products, Caring for Nature, and Caring for Culture. The base rubric (Green Destinations' Good Travel Scan) totals 104 points and covers a wide set of sustainability practices. On top of that, GoGood adds Bonus points: up to +9 for local ownership and up to +4 for third-party certification — no penalty for businesses that don't qualify. You own all of the rights to the information you submit on your listing, assuming you owned it in the first place.
