SMART is the San Miguel Authority for Regional Transportation, a regional transportation authority classified under Colorado law with broad authority to finance, build, and operate a regional transportation system. SMART strives to deliver safe and reliable transit services and consistently advocates for multi-modal transit systems across the San Miguel region.

The organization operates and funds Norwood bus service, Down Valley bus service, off-season shuttles between Telluride and Mountain Village, Lawson Hill enhanced service, Rico shuttle, San Miguel County commuter shuttles, Mountain Village commuter shuttles, trails for commuting, and the Lawson Hill Park and Ride.

SMART was created to improve efficiency in regional transit planning and service coordination, boost the local economy with reliable transit options for businesses and employees, reduce traffic and parking impacts, improve air quality through fewer vehicles on roads, leverage grants for expanded funding, and increase mobility for everyone in the region. The organization serves the boundaries of Telluride's R-1 School District and the eastern portion of San Miguel County, with membership from Telluride, Mountain Village, and San Miguel County.
