Hearthstone Restaurant
The blue Victorian on Ridge Street — among the most photographed exteriors in the historic district — was built in 1880 by Breckenridge's first banker as the Kaiser House, and it stands as one of the oldest structures in town. Since 1989 it has been the Hearthstone, a locals' favorite for hand-cut steaks, Colorado wild game and fresh seafood served through the old home's cozy rooms and out on a deck with ski-slope views.
Founders Dick Carleton and Alexandra Storm ran the restaurant for 36 years before passing the torch in January 2026 to Kimberly and David Salmon, Breckenridge residents who keep it independently and locally owned.
The 4–6pm happy hour is a long-running town tradition — and a fine excuse to claim a spot on the deck before dinner.
