Winter Scenic Gondola Rides

The Winter Scenic Gondola carries you up Mount Werner at Steamboat Resort, lifting you above the trees to the upper mountain without strapping on skis. You climb past snow-loaded pines and groomed runs, watching skiers carve below and the Yampa Valley open up behind you. At the top, step out to take in the long views across the Park Range and grab a bite before riding back down.

This is a straightforward way to reach the heart of Steamboat's ski terrain if you don't ski, or a scenic break if you do. It runs in winter as a seasonal offering, best taken on a clear, cold morning when the light hits the snow and the valley stretches out sharp below.

Bring a warm layer and a camera. The ride is slow enough to soak in the scenery, and the summit area gives you room to linger, snap photos, and decide whether to head back down or explore the upper mountain on foot.
