Walk Through History Tour
Breckenridge History — the local nonprofit formerly known as the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance — runs this signature guided walking tour from the Welcome Center at 203 S Main Street, with more than 20 local guides bringing the National Historic District to life. Over 90 minutes and about six town blocks, you'll pass log cabins and stately Victorian buildings while hearing stories of gold strikes, robberies, booms and busts, and the skiing pioneers who gave the town its second act.
The nonprofit stewards a dozen historic sites and museums around town, including the free Barney Ford and Edwin Carter museums, and its broader tour menu ranges from Bawdy Breckenridge and Tombstone Tales at Valley Brook Cemetery to gold panning at Lomax Placer Mine and historic hikes in the Golden Horseshoe.
Tours go out year-round in sun, wind and snow, and advance reservations aren't required — just show up at the Welcome Center.
