North Table Mountain/Golden Cliffs

North Table Mountain/Golden Cliffs is a popular rock climbing area sitting above Golden, featuring a cliff band that faces south and west, making it well-suited for comfortable winter and cold weather climbing. The rock was formed by shoshonite porphyry lava flows, giving it unique character compared to most other crags in the area. Most routes are tightly bolted and generally short (around 60 feet), with 50m rope and 10 quickdraws often sufficient.

The area offers a variety of climbing styles including trad, sport, toproping, and bouldering across multiple crags and sections such as Brown Cloud Rocks, Child Free Zone, East Quarry, Overhang Area, Industrial Buttress, and many others, totaling over 500 climbs. The rock can be polished in places, particularly on warm days, which can affect climbing conditions. Access to the cliffs is managed to protect nearby residents, with a 20 mph speed limit on Peery Parkway and requirements to stay on trail and pack out all trash. Dogs are required to be on leash at all times.
