RECREATING IN BEAR COUNTRY While a bear sighting is not always guaranteed you should be prepared in case of an encounter. The Crown of the Continent region is ideal bear habitat and supports a healthy population of both black and grizzly bears. Always carry bear spray with you, never feed wildlife, know your bears, keep a safe distance, and properly store attractants.

FISHING

  • Fishing license is required on Montana managed waters.
  • Know fishing rules and regulations for where you plan to fish, as this will let you know what time of year you can fish certain sections, what you can fish with, and what you can fish for.
  • Be wary of water tempartures rising. Fish become stressed as dissovled oxygen level drops. Try to fish in the early morning. Always be aware of regulations specific to the water-body you will fish. Hoot owl fishing restrictions may be in place.
