Central Colorado Conservancy

Central Colorado Conservancy is an accredited land trust and community-based conservation organization based in Salida, Colorado, working throughout the Upper Arkansas Headwaters region and across a six-county service area (Chaffee, Lake, Park, Fremont, Saguache, and Gunnison counties). The Conservancy's mission is to protect the lands, waters and quality of life of Central Colorado as our communities face pressure and rapid growth.

Since 2001, the organization has protected over 7,120 acres through conservation easements and acquisitions, including 345 acres in the Arkansas River Community Preserve.

The Conservancy's approach combines four strategic priorities: protecting lands, waters and quality of life through easements and acquisitions; connecting communities to conservation through restoration efforts, community engagement and volunteer programs; innovating to further conservation efforts, such as through virtual fencing projects with ranchers to improve land management and soil health; and sustaining a healthy organization to continue its impact.

The Conservancy also leads large-landscape collaborative partnerships to improve watershed health and implement stream restoration projects, works with agricultural producers to keep working lands working, and serves in a leadership capacity in partnership with the Upper Arkansas Conservation District and Lake County Conservation District.
