Archery

Archery at Snow Mountain Ranch runs 45-minute sessions for both first-timers and seasoned shooters. Beginners learn the basics — stance, grip, how to nock an arrow and loose it cleanly — while experienced archers work on their form at the line. The ranch keeps both indoor and outdoor ranges, so sessions run all year, rain or shine. Groups stay small: up to 12 shooters in summer and fall, nine in winter, which means real time under a facilitator's eye rather than waiting in a long queue.

Snow Mountain Ranch sits in the mountains near Granby and is run by the YMCA of the Rockies, a nonprofit. The $12 facilitation fee is modest, and kids as young as six can take part, so it works well for families looking for something to do together between hikes and winter trips.

You need a day pass or a lodging reservation to join, and sessions fill up — pre-register online or call ahead by at least 24 hours. Reservations are recommended.
