The Peoples' Crossing Trailhead
The Peoples' Crossing Trailhead provides access to the network of Red Rocks Trails. These trails climb up into ochre-colored sandstone spires and formations. From the summit, you'll have a beautiful view of the city of Boulder below.
Previously named Settler's Park, the new name for the trailhead was developed by representatives from federally recognized American Indian Tribes. This new name is the result of community members who created Boulder’s Indigenous Peoples Day Resolution and guidance American Indian Tribal Nation representatives.
The Peoples’ Crossing Park holds deep historical value, with the area believed to be where Hinono’ei neecee (Arapaho) and other indigenous peoples once traversed the landscape. By renaming the park to honor the rich history of the land, Boulder acknowledges the importance of the indigenous communities and their connection to the area.
One of the highlights of The Peoples’ Crossing Park is the extensive network of trails that wind through its picturesque landscape. The park’s trailhead provides access to the Red Rocks Trails, leading visitors on a journey through ochre-colored sandstone spires and formations. Hikers, mountain bikers, trail runners, and snowshoers can all find a variety of trails catering to their preferred outdoor activities.
