Saguache County Sustainable Environment & Economic Development
For over two decades, Saguache County Sustainable Environment & Economic Development (ScSEED) has been a driving force in shaping the economic and social landscape in Saguache County. Born from a grassroots movement in the late 1990s, ScSEED has remained dedicated to fostering sustainable development while preserving the county’s rich natural and cultural heritage.

The Four Pillars of our Strategy
ScSEED's projects fall into one of four main strategies for "Preserving our Heritage" and "Designing our Future" in Saguache County:

Civic & Social Connections - Encourage the communities and people of Saguache County to work together for mutual benefit.

Compatible Economic Development - Support small businesses and cooperative enterprises that sustainably use and add value to county resources.

Agriculture & Environment Conservation - Preserve and protect the rural agricultural community character and environmental health of Saguache County.

Education & Enrichment - Increase lifelong health, educational, vocational, recreational and social opportunities.

Core Activities
Fiscal Sponsorship - Provide Saguache County non-profits a financial infrastructure to operate within required accounting guidelines and support with project management and fund raising efforts.
Projects - Identify and implement projects within Saguache County municipalities and State agencies that leverage available funding to improve the quality of life and support sustainable economic development.
Advocate - Advocate for Saguache County by participating in various state and local events and meetings to seek out new opportunities for economic development and sustainable growth.
