Golden River Sports
We are Golden's original fly fishing and paddling shop located in historic downtown. Since 2004 we have been locally owned and operated. We are just blocks away from the Golden's Clear Creek Whitewater “Playpark” Course and the “Golden Mile” fishing habitat. Our staff are all fly fishing specialists and water enthusiasts. We take GREAT pride and work very hard to help with all your equipment needs. We can help prepare you for your adventure whether you are off to some extraordinary destination or headed just down the street. We live, eat, breathe and play on the rivers and anywhere there's water!

Kayaking
Golden River Sports works exclusively with our partners at Whitewater Workshop for whitewater kayak lessons as well as Colorado River School for kayaking lessons. Whether you are looking to learn or want to practice in the pool at the Golden Community Center, if you want to get out on the lakes and rivers, or brush up on your combat river roll, take a play boating class, participate in a rescue clinic, or even receive ACA Instructor training, please visit our partners’ web pages. And tell them Golden River Sports sent you!

Tubing
Super fun, we love it too! But full disclosure - Clear Creek is not a “lazy river” float! The whitewater playpark which is the area of the creek between the Gateway Trailhead / Route 6/93 overpass above Lyons Park near the Clear Creek RV Park, and Vanover Park just off Ford Street, was designed for Class II / III whitewater kayaking. It is a naturally flowing creek with objects and hazards which can change without warning. There is an inherent risk to any whitewater sport, including tubing. You may fall off, you will get wet and you may take a swim or two. If you have any trepidation, we recommend you walk the corridor to watch other tubers first - see how you feel about it, then make an educated decision for yourself.
Season 2026: Yes, we are still open for first-come first serve tubing! We recommend you come before Noon each day for the best chance at good weather. For tubing questions, you can call the store at (303) 215-9386. If you are interested in booking a corporate event only, call Patty 303.246-2976.

SUP Sales & Rental
Stand Up Paddle Boarding originated in Africa and was most widely used by warriors in an attempt to stealthily sneak up on their enemies. It migrated over the years to Hawaii, some say as far back as the 16th Century, as a stepchild of surfing. Present day, it is now the most popular paddle sport among first-time participants. In other words – try it! Everybody loves it! Golden River Sports carries premium SUP boards and equipment. We are proud to support our local Colorado SUP companies.
