Elk Creek Campground

Just outside of the town of Horca, the Elk Creek Campground is lightly wooded with spruce and some ponderosa pines. The understory is grass with some sites located next to Elk Creek.

The campground has 31 campsites (6 are pull-through) with tables and fireplaces, 3 vault type toilets, drinking water (3 hand pumps) and refuse receptacles for your convenience.

The campground is comprised of three loops, including overflow camping. Camping sites 31 through 38 are located in the overflow loop (no picnic tables). All other sites are side-by-side pull-through with no tables and seven grills.

Seasons & Fees

Individual sites at this campground operate on a 6-month rolling basis:

• Availability is released from Fri, May 22nd 2026 through Mon, September 7th 2026. Select dates for availability.
• On November 28, 2026 at 10:00 AM EDT, availability will be released through May 28, 2027.

Getting Here From Antonito, CO, take US 285 south 0.3 miles to Hwy 17. Continue straight on Hwy 17 and go 22.6 miles to campground sign. Turn right onto dirt road and go 0.1 miles to a "T" intersection. Turn left, go 0.4 miles to a "Y" intersection. Bear right and turn into campground.
