Durango Outdoor Exchange strives to be a gear store for everyone. We hope you feel a sense of community and place the minute you walk through the door. Whether you are brand new to a sport and looking for guidance or just in for your weekly check on sweet used gear finds, we are so happy you’re here. We are thankful for each and every customer and consignor and feel lucky we get to continue growing in our dream jobs. And now, for the introductions…

Community

Durango Outdoor Exchange provides the opportunity for our community to give gear a second life. Shopping and selling locally supports your friends and neighbors. We’re grateful to be able to provide this opportunity to our community and look forward to meeting new friends, hearing stories and supporting all of you in your next outdoor adventures.

We also love the opportunity to support those who contribute to the health and vitality of our community. In 2017 we started Give Back Days to provide an opportunity to learn about the exceptional non profit organizations in our community and do our part to give back, donating 10% of proceeds of sales from their sponsored day. Presently, we are excited to be able to support organizations through substantial sponsorships and a variety of partnerships models such as those with La Plata Open Space Conservancy and San Juan Mountains Association.

Environment

We recognize the incredible beauty of the land in which we live, work and play. Durango Outdoor Exchange prides itself in being a steward of the environment and we want to do all we can to reduce, reuse and recycle in the name of preservation. Buying and selling used items reduces the impact on the environment by keeping unwanted items in-use and out of landfills. Local commerce reduces carbon emissions by limiting extra transportation. By shopping and selling with us, you’re doing your part too.

Some would say Durango Outdoor Exchange is already a sustainable business because we sell used outdoor gear, but we wanted to do even better, so we dug deeper into our values and made some key decisions which included installing solar panels the first year in our new location, adding an electric car charger in 2022 and have recently been awarded a Platinum Level Green Business certification by the Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency.

Adventure

Ya know that feeling? The adrenaline, the excitement of falling in love with a new activity and knowing you need more! We value new experiences that our beautiful outdoors has to offer.
