British Columbia's Fernie is well known for its snowfall accumulations and offers six different areas for nordic skiing in and around town.

Rules and Regulations

A Membership or Day Pass required to ski at the Nordic Centre and at the Golf Course.

Trail System

These trails offer a broad range of diversity. For example the Fernie Dyke allows dogs to accompany skiers. Click here to determine which trails best suite your needs and interests.

  • Fernie Golf Course- 12 km of nordic ski trail, optimal for beginners, trail starts at Clubhouse
  • Elk Valley Nordic Centre- 9 km of nordic ski trail, access to warming hut
  • Fernie Alpine Resort- Two nordic skiing loops, 9 km long, dogs permitted on leash
  • Island Lake Lodge- 25 km of nordic ski trail split between lower and upper sections, trail and closed road skiing options *beware of CatSki vehicles frequenting road
  • The Fernie Dyke- Follows along the Elk River, accessible in town and popular mutli-use trail (snowshoers, walkers, dogs & nordic skiers)
  • Montane Nordic and Multi-Use Trails- 10 km of nordic ski only & non-motorized use trails (walkers, snowshoers, bikers, dogs), access from Fernie Aquatic Centre
