New York Climate Exchange
Following a two-year competitive process, Mayor Eric Adams and the Trust for Governors Island announced The New York Climate Exchange (“The Exchange”) in April 2023.
The Exchange is a first-of-its-kind model for developing and implementing solutions to the global climate crisis in New York and around the world. The Exchange is a global hub that leverages the collective power of education, research, workforce development, policy development, and public programming to advance climate action at the local, national, and global level.
Our mission is to confront urgent climate impacts and issues of environmental justice, breaking down silos through an innovative, scalable, and sustainable model that will rapidly develop new urban climate solutions.
The Exchange anchors its work on two core values: equity and justice and the centrality of cities. We prioritize inclusivity, ensuring that stakeholders have the capability to readily access and actively participate in our programming and overarching vision. Cities are foundational to our work given the role they play in climate challenges and their solutions.
Part think-tank, part do-tank, The Exchange is a fundamentally unique model for partnership and collaborative solution development. It is a transformational organization with active partners drawn from a breadth of academic, corporate, and non-profit community partners.
