Wolf Point

Wolf Point is a vibrant community located where Wolf Creek meets the Missouri River, on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in northeastern Montana. As the county seat of Roosevelt County, Wolf Point has long been a regional trade center for local farmers, ranchers, and Indigenous communities. The Fort Peck Reservation is home to members of the Dakota-Lakota-Nakota (Sioux) and Dakota (Assiniboine) nations, each with rich traditions that continue to shape life in the region today.

Wolf Point is known for hosting two of Montana's most iconic cultural events: the Wild Horse Stampede, Montana’s oldest professional rodeo (held every second weekend of July), and the Wadopana Pow-wow, Montana’s oldest traditional pow-wow (celebrated every first weekend of August). Both offer unforgettable opportunities to experience Native traditions, community pride, and Montana’s frontier spirit.
