Sheep Lakes Information Station sits in Horseshoe Park along Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, a low-key pullout built for one thing: watching bighorn sheep come down to the mineral licks near the water. In late spring and early summer, the herd crosses from the Mummy Range to the meadow, and rangers or volunteers here help you spot them, explain the crossing, and keep both animals and cars moving safely.

The station is a stop, not a building tour. You park, walk to the viewing area, and scan the grassy flats and the shallow lakes for movement. Bring binoculars, wear layers for shifting mountain weather, and give yourself time in the morning when the sheep are most active. It's an easy, family-friendly place to pause on the way deeper into the park.

Entry to the station itself is free, though you need a national park pass to be in the park. When the sheep are crossing, volunteers stop traffic to give the herd right of way, so plan for short waits and follow their direction to keep the animals safe.
