The Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative is an independent, community-owned bookstore in the heart of downtown Alamosa. Inhabiting the former location of the Narrow Gauge Newsstand, the NGBC opened in August of 2018 and continues the legacy of cultivating community through literacy. On our shelves, you’ll find a diverse selection of books, both new and used, a section dedicated to local authors and local history, and a wide variety of gift items, many of them created by local makers!

The store offers a curated selection of new releases, bestsellers, audiobooks, and indie press publications. We host an Indie Press Book Club with regular selections and events, and feature staff picks, seasonal collections, and a newsletter. The bookstore serves as a community gathering space for readers and book lovers, and a hub for literature and art gatherings in the San Luis Valley.
