Since 1920, the Golden Chamber of Commerce has worked to support the economic growth and continued prosperity of Golden businesses. Founded by Herman Coors, Manager of Coors Porcelain, who saw a need to bring better roads to Golden and organized other businessmen to form the Chamber, the organization has been integral to Golden's development.

From the beginning, the Chamber and its members actively shaped Golden's economic future—lobbying the State Legislature to route the new Look-out Mountain Highway through Golden to establish a tourism industry, and fighting to keep the School of Mines in the community.

In 1949, Chamber President Lu Holland championed the building of the iconic Welcome Arch, rallying members to raise $7,500 and declaring the arch lets visitors know that "Western friendship and hospitality abound in Golden." Holding true to its foundational goal of bringing visitors to Golden to support local businesses, the Chamber has established lasting community events including the Golden Fine Arts Festival (begun in 1990, attracting over ten thousand visitors), the Golden Farmers Market (established in 2002, which has become an incubator for small businesses like YO Colorado and Red Silo Coffee Roasters), and the annual Golden Beverage Tasting & Chili Cookoff.

The Chamber enhances and promotes the economic environment of the Greater Golden Area through supporting its members, collaborating with businesses, city, county, state and community resources, and enhancing quality of life for the community at large.
