Coloma Ghost Town
Coloma, MT is known as the "Mystery Camp" and is a ghost town located a few miles north of the better known Garnet Ghost Town on the Garnet Back Country Byway. Very little is known about the Coloma settlement other than records indicate it began in 1893 and experienced high gold mining activity starting in 1896. Archaeological studies of the site have been conducted by students from University of Montana. There are still mining shafts, ventilation systems, pumping machines and remains of narrow-gauge railroad tracks present at the site.
The Garnet Back Country Byway offers a 12 mile circular route on Garnet Range Road through old mining campsites, including Reynolds City, Springtown, Beartown and Garnet.
