Carver Brewing Co

Carver Brewing Company was founded by Jim and Bill Carver, two brothers from Wisconsin with roots in traditional German baking. The brothers opened Carver Brother's Bakery at the base of Winter Park Ski area in June 1983, then moved to Durango in 1986 to open Carver's at its current location in the historic downtown. In 1988, Carver Brewing Company became the first brewpub in the Southwest and second in Colorado since prohibition.

Over the decades, Carver's has become one of the most medaled breweries on the Western Slope, expanded to create Durango's largest outdoor beer garden, and donated over $600,000 to community organizations. After 39 years, Bill and Jim passed the business to siblings Claire and Colin Carver, making it one of the few second-generation brewpubs in the country. The team is committed to brewing award-winning craft beer, serving hand-crafted American pub fare with a craft kitchen that prioritizes local, healthy ingredients, and creating a welcoming community gathering space. With its roots in baking and expertise in brewing, Carver's remains one of Durango's most-loved local institutions.
