The space
Welcome to the 9th Street Carriage House — Where the West truly Lives! Tucked into Golden, Colorado's 9th Street Historic District, this lovingly maintained 900 sq ft carriage house apartment is the kind of place that feels like home from the moment you arrive.
The apartment occupies the entire upper floor of a historic carriage house with its own private entrance, dedicated parking off the alley, and zero shared spaces. You'll have the place entirely to yourselves — we live in the separate front house and are always nearby if you need local tips, trail recommendations, or restaurant picks.

The space sleeps up to 5 guests across two bedrooms and a living room sofa. Bedroom 1 has a king bed with a premium mattress and smart TV. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed with a premium mattress. The L-shaped sofa in the living room is perfect for a 5th guest. We also have a pack and play for the little ones. The fully loaded kitchen features a gas range, granite counters, stainless appliances, a Crock-Pot, and is stocked with oils, spices, and cookware — everything you need to cook a proper Colorado feast. The recently renovated bathroom is genuinely spa-like: walk-in European shower with rain head, a deep jetted soaking tub, double vanity, and travertine tile. After a day on the trails or the slopes, it's exactly what you need.
We've also made sure the practical stuff is taken care of. There is an in-unit stackable washer and dryer with laundry pods provided, shampoo and conditioner stocked in the bathroom, super-fast dedicated WiFi, and a secure outdoor storage shed for bikes, kayaks, ski gear, and anything else you're hauling on your Colorado adventure. We want you to spend your time exploring, not worrying about logistics.

Then there's the deck. Past guests have taken to calling it the bird's nest — and once you're up here with friends, a morning coffee or cold drink in hand, and the fire pit going, you'll understand why. Perched above the neighborhood with views of Lookout Mountain, Clear Creek, and Lions Park, it's your own private overlook. Fire up the grill, settle in, and let the memories make themselves.
The neighborhood
Golden and the surrounding foothills are an outdoor adventurer's dream year-round. In summer, Clear Creek runs directly across from Lions Park — a 200-foot walk from your front door — where you can tube or kayak right from the neighborhood. Trailheads for North Table Mountain, South Table Mountain, and Apex Park are all within a few minute car ride. In the Fall, Golden Gate Canyon State Park (25 minutes away) offers spectacular foliage hikes and mountain biking at its finest. In the Winter, Loveland Ski Area is 38 miles away (about 55 minutes), Arapahoe Basin is 52 miles (65 minutes), and Eldora Mountain Resort is 45 miles — making this a natural ski gateway for Front Range powder days. In the Summer, the Golden Farmers Market sets up directly across the street at Lions Park from May through October, and wildflower season on the Apex Trail is something you won't forget.

Visiting someone at Colorado School of Mines? The main campus entrance is a 10-minute walk from the front door. We host a lot of parents here for graduation weekends, family weekends, and Oredigger events — it's a comfortable, private alternative to Golden hotels, with a full kitchen for family meals and parking for 1-2 vehicles.
Heading to Red Rocks Amphitheatre? You're 12.4 miles away — an 18-minute drive via Highway 6. After the show, you're back at the carriage house in under 20 minutes, fire pit fired up and the stars overhead. Pre-show, walk 6 minutes to downtown Golden's Washington Avenue for dinner and craft beers at Golden City Brewery or Mountain Toad before heading over.

Speaking of the neighborhood — you won't find a better-located base in Golden. Downtown Washington Avenue is a 6-minute walk with locally-loved restaurants, cafes, boutique shops, and some of Colorado's best craft breweries. The Coors Brewery is 4 blocks away and offers daily tours. Lions Park and Clear Creek are directly across the street. The Golden Community Center and public library are within a block.
Love it here and don't want to leave? We completely understand. We welcome extended stays of 30 nights or more at a discounted monthly rate — just send us a message and we'll work something out. Whether you're a remote worker who found your happy place, a visiting family settling in for a season, or someone who simply fell in love with Golden, we'd love to have you stay longer.
One quick note before you arrive: the carriage house is a second-floor unit reached by 16 private outdoor stairs, so it may not be the right fit for guests with mobility limitations. The property is strictly non-smoking and pet-free throughout.
