Forfar Field Station

Forfar Field Station, located on the east coast of Andros Island, is a rustic educational facility owned and operated by International Field Studies (IFS). Originally established in the 1960s as a dive resort by Archie Forfar, the station now serves as a hub for experiential learning, hosting over 50,000 students and researchers since its inception. The station offers a variety of programs, including the Forfar Marine Science Program, Summer Marine Biology Week, and Exploring Marine Science and Diving, catering to groups ranging from elementary to graduate students.

The Forfar experience includes boat days spent snorkeling or scuba diving near the third-largest fringing barrier coral reef in the world, the Tongue of the Ocean, and exploring oceanic blue holes. Land days involve visits to unique landscapes featuring seven distinct plant communities, the largest concentration of freshwater blue holes globally, endemic birds and reptiles, and interactions with local artisans and community members. Accommodations consist of rustic cabin-style lodging with modern amenities where guests can enjoy home-cooked Bahamian meals, beach volleyball, basketball, ping pong, or swimming along the beach.

Forfar Field Station is a Clean & Pristine certified business. Learn more about the Clean & Pristine Certification here: Clean & Pristine Certification
